The magnitude of the Iguazu River and its rapids, the favorable weather throughout the year and the beauty of the scenery, it is one of the reasons that makes this adventure one of the most exciting in Foz do Iguaçu. The rafting in the Iguassu River rapids is not only a privilege of the athletes, that once in a while, compete in these waters stages of the Brazilian Championship, Pan American and South American river rafting competition. Tourists from all over the world can also enjoy this experience.
The practice of this sport in the Iguassu River consists in a raft down the rapids for almost four kilometers, two of them of medium level rapids (Class III+) and two of calm water, where it is possible to float. It begins close to the Falls, with a magnificent view of the falls. The descent is followed by a motor boat, with a pilot and a helper equipped with ropes and rescue buoys in any case of unforseen. Besides all these precautions, Macuco Safari keeps a paramedic on duty.
This kind of rafting, visitor will start their activity from the rappel tower, which has direct access to the rafting plataform, localized beside the tower. The access is made by rappel in a viewpoint in front the Cataratas' Hotel, next to Canion Iguaçu. Once on the base, visitor is received by a rafting's conductor that will bring you to read and sign the terms of knowledge of risk and exemption of responsibility, in addition to receiving instructions and equipments. After this stage, visitor will embark on the rafting boat to make a brief training, to finaly descend through the rapids. The ride finishes on the Macuco's Pier, where a short trail will drive to the central of Macuco Safari.
• The descent can be filmed and photographed, and the material can be seen and purchased at the exit of the ride.
• The Macuco Safari is not responsible for any belongs or equipment taken on board the boats, such as filming or photografic cameras, documents, money or anything that can be damaged if wet.
• We offer lockers in our center, at the pier before boarding the boats and also in the central of Canyon Iguassu. Price for rent: R$ 5,00.
• Macuco Safari has the Certificate in Adventure Tourism - Management Security - NBR 15331, issued by the ABNT (Brazilian Technical Standards Association)
• The use of safety equipment (helmet and life jacket) is mandatory.
• We recommend the use of sportswear.
• Minimum age: from 14 years on. From 14 to 17 years old, a permission of the (parents, brothers who are 21 years of age or legal guardian) is needed.
• Approximate duration of the trip: two hours (starting from the Canyon Iguassu and ending in the central Macuco Safari, 20 min walk, 20 min to the safety instructions, procedures 15 min, 35 min of descent and 30 min to arrive at central Macuco).
• Opening hours: Daily from 09:00am to 04:00 pm, subject to time and place.
The tour ride hours can be changed or even canceled for reasons of weather and river conditions (flow and flux).
